Being an artistic town, it’s no surprise Laguna Beach features a unique music scene with a variety of talented artists performing regularly. This week is no different, with three separate events to entice the senses.
Live! at the Museum: Dúo del Sol—March 14th
Deemed “avant sonic acrobats” by the L.A. Weekly magazine, this combination of guitar and violin create a romantic and inspirational flow of music. Their expansive style can be compared to the likes of Radiohead, while their raw energy conjures up the spirits of Reinhardt and Grappelli. The musical energy flowing out of Javier Orman and Tom Farrel is perfectly matched by the location at The Art Museum in one of the most artistic towns in Orange County. Admission to the concert is free with a regular museum admission of $7 adult and $5 senior/student (free for museum members). The museum’s doors are open from 5pm to 9pm.
Kevin’s Beach—March 12th
For those with more synthesized tastes, Kevin Ware invites you to Kevin’s Beach. Filled with sets that roll in from all over the world, the sounds are swathed in mixed-up dub, wavy soul-jazz and soothing-digital electronics. Show starts at 9pm; 1833 South Coast Highway.
HELLO, DOLLY!—March 15th
This Broadway extravaganza will be playing at 7:30pm at the Laguna Beach Artists’ Theater (625 Park Ave), tickets are $10.00 per person. A cast of more than 30 performers joins in a joyful celebration of songs, vibrant dance, and colorful characters that connect the audience to the exuberance and optimism of a bygone era.
If you are still not intrigued by the harmony going on this week, come out and make some of your own at Karaoke Nights on Tuesday and Thursday at Hennessey’s Tavern (213 Ocean Avenue; starts at 9pm).
