If you want to do some fishing during your next Laguna Beach vacation, you’ll want to know that the Laguna Beach coastline, from top to bottom, is a no fishing zone. Included in this no fishing zone is the Laguna Beach State Marine Reserve and the Laguna Beach State Marine Conservation Area, which cover an additional 6.27 square miles offshore. All marine life is protected by prohibiting the removal of any wildlife on the entire coastline and two mentioned arias. This relatively new law has resulted in larger fish size, greater variation in type, and an increase in number of fish. While this is a bummer for people wanting to fish, it’s awesome if you’re into diving or snorkeling. There are some very close options for fishermen however.
If you travel south, 8 miles from Laguna’s main beach, you’ll find everything from pole fishing, sport fishing rentals, boat rentals, to fishing tours in Dana Point. Or, if you travel a little more than 10 miles north from Laguna’s main beach, you’ll find all the same options in Newport Beach.
