The village of Laguna Beach is the place to be if you want to relax and listen to some live music, view local artistic works, or even take in a play.

One local singer who is a must hear is Lakin (link). Her voice is in perfect harmony with her guitar, and her latest album is nearly completed. Keep your cash ready she might have CDs for sale when she sings live at The Wine Gallery. Tuesday, March 5th starting at 5:00pm.

Also playing this week, at the Laguna Beach Live! Jazz Series, is critically acclaimed Sara Gazarek, performing with her trio (link). Embracing the roots of traditional jazz music, Sara Gazarek stands out as a particularly extravagant jazz artist and will continue to take her rightful place as an original artist in the jazz industry. Artist Michael Summers will be showing Rather Curious for only two days, March 16th and 17th, at the Exclusive Collections Gallery, 417 South Coast Highway. Taking everyday objects and imagery and putting them in a new context, he encourages people to take another look at the world around them. After you see his work you will see the world around you a little differently.

For those who have been captivated by Disney Hall’s stunning design, you won’t want to miss the Laguna Beach Film Society’s airing of Sidney Pollack’s documentary, Sketches of Frank Gehry, screening Thursday, January 17th at 7:00pm at the South Coast Cinema.
